It’s time to put away the summer dresses and flip flops and break out the sweaters and boots. But a break from the dry summer heat does not mean you should take a break when it comes to your skincare regimen. Normally winter time rolls around, people cover up and slack off. Don’t be a slacker! Take a look at these tips and get your skin prepped for the winter.

Tip 1. Moisturize, moisturize, oh and don’t forget to moisturize – I can’t stress that enough. Find a good moisturizer and stick with it. The best time to apply your moisturizer is right after you’ve dried off after your shower or bath. Seal in the moisture that’s already been absorbed into your skin. Oil based moisturizers are the best. Water based moisturizers tend to dry away as soon as it is applied.

Tip 2. Know your skin type – I know this might sound like a no brainer, but believe it or not when the seasons change, you may notice your skin type changes as well. This means that you might need to adjust and switch up your products accordingly.

Tip 3. Exfoliate – Now is the time to start adding regular exfoliation to your skin care routine. Use a gentle facial scrub to help remove sun damaged skin cells to encourage brighter, smoother skin. Think of it as sloughing off the old and bringing on the new. Do this at least once or twice a week.

Tip 4. Drink water. – Hydrate your skin from within by drinking a good amount of water. No excuses! If you don’t like water, try adding fruit, mint, or cucumbers to it for natural flavoring. Don’t let your skin go thirsty.

Tip 5. Sleep in silk. – You should treat your skin like royalty and ditch the cotton pillowcases. A silk pillowcase sounds like an indulgence but it really will change your life. Not only is it lovely to sleep on, but it’s also so much gentler on your skin and hair.

Until next time beautiful Goddesses!
